We opened in November of 1976. Our founder, Ron Royse was manager at Gateway Music, and had the opportunity to purchase that store. He decided to move the store to Tigard, where the original location was located at 238 Tigard Plaza.
It only took a few years for the store to grow, before we needed to find a new location. Ron was a reserve police officer with Tigard Police at the time, so with the help of a few off duty Tigard Police officers, Tigard Music found its new home at 11579 SW Pacific Hwy., in April of 1985.
For over 45+ years, we have strived to provide the best customer service to schools and retail customers throughout Oregon and SW Washington. We pride ourselves on making sure our customers receive honest and quality advice, competitively priced products, and an outstanding customer service experience. Give us a call, or come see us today!
We have proudly been providing Oregon student’s instrument leases for over 35+ years. Under our student instrument lease plan, your student receives a name brand in perfect playing condition instrument, for the entire school year. This removes any pressure on the student, teacher, and parents usually associated with an approached requiring monthly payments or the meeting of a pre-determined “buy or quit” date.
How does it work:
We supply a name brand, and in perfect playing condition instrument. The fees shown below are for the ENTIRE school year. All instruments are carefully checked, cleaned, and sterilized before delivery. A major debit or credit card is required to secure the lease. All fees include a maintenance contract.
Lease customers received 100% of the first year lease fee as a credit towards a minimum instrument purchase. You will ALWAYS get the lowest discounted price, and there is never an obligation to make a purchase. Lease fee credits do not accumulate, and cannot be combined.
Optional Damage Waiver: ($20)
Protect your lease instrument for the ENTIRE school year for only $20.00. This covers accidental damage, fire, and theft. In the case of fire or theft, the lease customer is responsible for filing the proper police or fire department report within 72 hours of the incident. A copy of the police report must be submitted with any claim. Violin strings are included in the damage waiver. Reeds, oils, greases are not covered by the fee.
Maintenance Contract (Included in Lease Fee):
Tigard Music will provide all repair work on the instrument required to keep it in good playing condition for the length of the lease agreement. Repair that exceeds normal wear and tear is billed at 70% of the repair shop rate. In the event Tigard Music considers the instrument to be damaged beyond repair the replacement value indicated by the agreement (70% retail) will be required. This agreement does not cover the replacement of any part of the instrument. If required, reeds, oils, greases, and/or mouthpieces/mouthpiece parts are not covered under this agreement.

How To Reserve Your Instrument:
Why use Craigslist, E-Bay, or Reverb when you can have us handle your instruments showcase and face-to-face transaction? For consignment, instruments are evaluated on the likelihood to sell, general appearance and condition, repair needs, and brand familiarity. The instrument owner must approve any offers we receive lower than the agreed price between Tigard Music and the instrument owner.
We take 25% of the selling price of the instrument, minus any repair costs of the instrument. The owner can pick up the instrument at anytime, paying the repair cost if any. Our assessments of your instrument are best determined in person. Feel free to drop by with your instrument, so we can evaluate it today! If you aren’t sure if we will take it, feel free to give us a call.
